When family matters force you to become "local" but you are missing the road so bad it makes you tear up a bit... just seeing your previous company's ad on Facebook...

    I miss the open road.

Put that near N. Platte, NE in 1he late 50's, tach steady on the governor, MPH needle laying nicely to the right side, not a electric light within 10 miles, and no light behind. Gonna be in Scottsbluff in no time. Just you and GOD out there at work.

Thankfully, driving at night in the Sandhills is still much like that.

Something only a Truckdriver can relate to? How about pulling onto a lonely long road late, late at night minus 25 F. Check in your mirror and 2 strings of fog is blowing behind you about a 150 yds. or more The adrenaline rush as you realize the fuel filter hasn't been changed in some time and your not sure if you have a spare with you. In the middle of no where. Yeah baby don't leave me now. Wild, wild feelin, living on the edge.

Or those cold nights like that where the moisture starts freezing out of the air and the light pillars start showing? And your snow plume might be a half mile long...

Some of my favorite conditions, although dangerous as hell if anything ever happened to your truck.

Done it a couple times but my preferred method is to park the truck and go out on foot for a little exercise if there is any places worth eating at within walking distance.

-25*F I sure would be worried about that, unless I had straight Kerosene/#1 Fuel in there. Cold filter plug point on most winterized #2 fuel around here is only advertised down to 0*F.

When there is a Prius in the fast lane doing 5 under the speed limit while you're in your personal vehicle, and you realize you don't have a truck horn to scare the crap out of them.

Driving your personal vehicle and realizing you don't have to pull into a scale house.
