I work for a company that is paying me less staying out Mon thru Friday than the day cab drivers plus the get hotels. I get 25 dollars layover and have to live in my truck and the day and get 100 dollars and hotel. Other pay is same except layover what can I do to change this I have thought about hr. My manager tried getting it changed but nothing was done and they say I agreed to the pay. But what I agreed to was the pay we all got and the 100 dollar layover was never communicated upon hire I was under assumption we all got 25 layover.i don't know if it was changed later on and they never offered it to me. Plus my job description was occasional night on road not weekly when I was hired they changed to weekly out Mon thru Friday just 6 months ago and I am stuck because they said they are not putting a day cab at my location. Is this legal?

You agreed to the pay for the job description at the time. If they want to change the job, they need to change the pay.

Forget what is legal or not. Tell them what you want - but be ready to give notice on the spot, if they do not meet your demand.

Personally, i would rather sleep in the truck than a random hotel every night, but i understand the issue and I agree it's not right.

I agree with the above post. Look for another job so you have that as leverage, then sit down with the boss and give him your demands.

But be professional about it. Don't break the boss's door down and storm into his office cussing. LOL

there is nothing wrong or right about eith case. If you agree to work for a wage you think is acceptable it matters not what anyone else is getting. I have made my own way since 1968 I cant remember a time I even asked about the wages. I am always the top driver any company I drive for but reality is I am just a steering wheel holder doing my job

    Two choices.

Get management involved in a compensation negotiation.

Find a different company to work for.
Now you know some questions to ask.

    You've been there 6 months??
If so, How is there NOW a Problem??
    - - - -
    If Not there 6 Months:

    $100.00 a day at 14 hours is a whopping $7.15 an hour.
Not even the NEW "Minimum Wage", so they can AFFORD to Pay For a Driver in A Hotel.

Running a SLEEPER and only getting $25.00 Layover, well, they're reaming you.
Per Diem MINIMUM, for I, was $63.00 EVERY NIGHT AWAY FROM HOME. Didn't matter how close or far from Home!

BEST-4-U to "renegotiate the contract" or locate an optional Company and VERIFY ALL PAY B4 Signing.

I may have not shared it but I have been here for 2 years and when I started they told me it was 25 dollar layover pay plus our stops and mileage and hourly for breakdowns. But I found out from another driver recently that they are making 100 dollars for layover on top of our other pay. And my job description changed just 6 months ago when they said I had to stay out all week because I'm in a sleeper. But I came off the road from otr to be home more.
