A highway tractor only requires a peak of 250 hp per axle and if you put 130 hp motors on the wheel-ends then you eliminate differentials, power dividers, transmissions and driveshafts while adding a generator and battery set. Yes there may be a weight penalty but not as much as it would have been with lead acid batteries -

Couple from last week. 13' 9" coneatoga into a 12 ft door, and the double drop got to bump the dock.
