I don't think it's across the board, I've seen trucks with them, and I've seen trucks without them

JLE Industries (not a bad outfit to work for)
Melton (not sure if company wide or just screw up's)
P&S/Blair/Red Mountain/MTB and other sister companies that I missed prior to the DMT and DT merger (all company trucks mandatory. Not sure now but in 2017 LP's could have them removed on a case by case review from safety).
That's the only ones I've experienced with cameras.
The photo shows the two separate cameras hanging above (JLE). First time I've ever seen them that small. They are usually those big, black claymore mine looking boxes. Little key pad to the very far left of the photo is what is used to control them by the company but if you bump one of those little buttons on that pad it will automatically trigger a distress event and they reach you on the phone before calling law enforcement.Attached Files:

Lp Transportation had driver and road facing cameras when I worked there about 4 years ago.
The safety guy told us a story about 2 trucks involved in a high speed head on collision on a 2 lane somewhere in the Midwest. He said 1 driver survived but 1 did not, the survivor claimed the other driver crossed the center line. After retrieving the camera footage from the deceased drivers truck it proved that it was the surviving driver who crossed the center line and exonerated the deceased driver. Supposedly he admitted to texting later on.
I didn't really think that was a great story to justify the cameras. -
We have forward facing event cameras....you only get in cab facing camera if your accident prone or getting several repeat of moving violation tickets.
laaylor Thanks this.
