My truck has always idled sitting at around 150 degrees, now it’s idling at around 180-185. It would also run on flat ground around 150 and now it’s around 170. It regens at around 210 and then drops to around 195 when the fan kicks on. I replaced the thermostat out of caution cause it has 595K miles, but still does the same. Is this change ok, or is there something else that may be going on? It’s not throwing any codes. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you had it near a dealership or any other place that may have done a software update? I have a 2019 VNL760 and several times it has been worked on, they also performed software updates. Just a thought but perhaps the change has to do with software change.

Sounds like you HAD bad thermostats that were not working, & now you got some that are..

Trucks ain't supposed to run at 150°f. Way to low. 180-200°f is normal range for todays junk..

I’m guessing that old thermostat was stuck open then for whatever reason started working. I’m also thinking that you’ll find that engine warms up way faster from cold now because everything is normal now.
