Cobra 29 classic shows antenna error light when Installed in CB "cubby" of Freightliner M2

I have Freightliner M2 that I have a Cobra 29 Classic installed in. I have the SWR calibrated using an external Astatic SWR meter. Truck running windows closed. . . etc. The SWR is around 1.2-1.4. The issue I have is every time I put the CB in the cubby and key the mic I get the Antenna warning light. I pull it out and everything is back to being as it should be. I don't have an issue with mounting the CB on the dash but would prefer the cleaner look of having it mounted in it's "cubby". Any thoughts as to why this would be occurring?

I know there is quite a bit of electrical up there as well. Map lights, running lights on the sun visor. . etc. I assumed that would be a contributing factor. I went so far as to shield the electrical stuff from the radio and coax cable, but to no avail. The one thing I didn't do was check SWR while to CB was in its compartment. All the swr checks were done with it sitting on the dash. I will double check all of that in the next day or so and let you know what happens. Thanks for the tip.

Connections are all as tight as I can get them without grabbing a pair of pliers to really yard down on them. As far as coiling, I was led to believe you didn't want to coil at all as that would contribute to problems. I have taken the excess and zigzagged in the upper compartment. Is this the wrong thing to do?

The warning light is just that, a warning light. If I decide not to open up the radio it won't hurt to leave it be, correct?
