This is why it’s best to catch a blockage, and have it stented, before having a Heart attack. Not only will it avoid possible permanent heart muscle damage. It avoids the hassle afterwards with DOT physical. Ironically I had a screening appointment that I postponed. Luckily the damage to my heart reversed itself, within 6 mos. Doesn’t always though. I’m grateful for that. Hearts healthy. Too much damage eventually causes Heart failure. That’s what got my Dad. Died at my current age 57, on Christmas Day 1998.

Have a good cardiologist. Had me do a short version of the MI program. An echo at one and two years after placement. Probably another in 3 or 4 years. The stent was very large diameter, Dr was real happy about that. Still have a few meds, at the lowest dosage they make. Dr doesn’t want to stop them, but probably could. She was taking a very aggressive approach at first. Now a bit more conservative and low maintenance. After the MI program, I think she was of the opinion, that it was straightened out and would not be a problem.JolliRoger, dwells40, TROOPER to TRUCKER and 8 others Thank this. -

The right Dr. sure helps. I was Lucky this Guy was on duty. He’s pretty old. Old enough to retire. Watching the video, it’s a wonder he found the blockage. It was right at a T. I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Once the artery was opened though, the video shows the whole left side opening up and blood flowing. Amazing stuff. Not as scary as I had expected. It was almost inevitable given family history. That’s primary, secondary risks are lifestyle and diet. Those are the tough ones. Lol.

The right doctor is the important part. Actually it was a right place, right time right, people thing. Went in to see doctor about how I was feeling, they did an EKG as a look see, then asked for a consult. Cardio doctor didn’t like the timing on it. Showed some starvation. Did a scan, Showed 95 percent block just above the branch. Less than an hour was getting the stent. 48 hours later sitting at the kitchen table, trying to comprehend the bullet that I dodged.
