Does this count as experience?

    Hi everyone, I have a question about a job I just took. I have a class A with all my endorsements but no experience. A small local company gave me the opportunity to drive for them. But im wondering if what I'm doing counts as experience to get a better job after a year or 2 here.

    The position requires a class A and it's a 26 foot flatbed truck with a 20 foot trailer hauling a forklift. I was wondering if this will count as verifiable class a experience to other local companies? Or does it specifically have to be a tractor trailer? Thank you

    At this stage in the game, I think if you prove your worth as a capable hand and keep your record clean, 6 months of experience at any Class A CDL position should open you up to a plethora of opportunities.

    A 26 ' FB with a 20' trailer and moffet I would imagine will require a skillset far beyond simply slamming doors and wrecking fuel islands.

    An LTL company might count that as experience, but the OTR outfits won’t. Even if you had 20 years experience as a peddle hand, they’ll still expect you to go through THEIR training because your experience won’t be worth ####.
