This is exactly why I don’t trust people and mechanics.

supposedly these orings and pump as well as the manifold had been changed at 487k miles on the truck. It’s now sitting at 597k miles and the dates on the parts read 2012.

Verify it’s changed and see for yourself before they put the parts on.

orings shouldn’t break like plastic pieces. If the chip on the pump gear was there but the dates said 2018 I would have been ok and said pump failed. But no.

Good thing I was able to get home to get it done after a 5 second low oil pressure warning. In Kentucky.

5-7 hours, if done right and it’s the pickup tubes on the pump. This has to be done at 500k maximum. I would at 250k after seeing this. That o-ring exploded in my hands. It’s hard as a rock.

I'm glad you caught it. I'll get to mine in the spring. Frost bite last week took a couple days to get over.
    Thanks.

What a difference in oil pressures.

Fully warmed up idle pressure is at 25 Before was at 16

high idle I’m at 33 previous at 23.

I'm amazed at how fast you got it done. Impressive. Clean looking dash too. Mine not so much

I replace the pickup tube assembly when doing this job as well. I have seen those fail also. The Suction Manifold. They changed it because there were issues with it.

Was that chip cause by the breaking of a o ring?
I'm still slightly confused on how you new where to look?
Was it the steady low pressure, or unable To build pressure?
Was it the oil pump you had to remove, and then just did the tubes while you where there?
I know it's a lot of questions. If you want to let it die I understand. I just love learning this stuff.
I am aware why you started this post and it sux you where lied to. I just don't know what to say about that, I haven't been thru it yet. Most of my b.s. is me getting in my own way.

It’s a known issue on the DD motors, I’m not sure what year they supposedly fixed this but my 2018 has 42x,xxx miles and still has the same oil pressure it did when new.
