with no damage to your truck but took their mirror off?

Say an SUV swerved into your lane and their side mirror got ripped off. You pulled over but they kept going. There is no damage to your truck and you have it on dashcam. Do you even bother to tell your company?

call the police while you are stopped and give a description of the other vehicle. If you don't they can claim you hit and run.

If you tell the police I would probably tell the company. But you know your company better than I do.

I would call the police and then call your company, you want as much info out there in case they do try to come back on you for a hit n run!

If they call your company in a few days and say you took there mirror off, what will you tell your company, oh yeah I forgot to tell you about that.

No matter who you tell or don't tell, make sure that dashcam footage is saved in a safe place.
If you are a company driver and the only dashcam is the company dashcam, tell them as soon as possible so they can make sure it is saved.

But the proper, logical and sensible thing to do is always report any accident like that to both the police and your company as soon as possible.

    What he said^^^^^^^^
And, if you don't have your own dashcam, get one. Even if your truck has a company dashcam, you should still have your own, in my opinion.

This happened to me this past summer. I pulled over, he kept going, I scratched my head and went about my day. Never heard anything about it

Most of the time they don’t because 99% of the time they either don’t have insurance, are high on something, or have warrants.

It’s like the neighborhood drunk with the car pounded into a pulp with whiskey dents. Only they know when, where, and how it happened no matter who or what they hit. Or even if someone hit them. Never a claim.

A drunk in a Honda struck the rear of my trailer once. I pulled over but Honda driver kept on going. Called CHP. Officer took a report. Gave the report information to my company. All they needed me to do was write an Incident report and I heard no more about it.

    Rocks and bzinger Thank this.
