Husband and wife team starting with R&L Carriers

How's it going there? I'm also a new driver considering the same position.

 

Any update? Husband and I applied as well, we’re in Vegas, I’m curious about the bids, what does that mean? We have our interview on Monday(assuming the recruiter does know already we’re a team, both of us received the same email )

 

Hello there? Do you still at R&L. How’s everything? Husband and I applied and we have the interview this Monday

 

Hey wife and I are creeping up on our 1yr mark on February 1st. R+L has been such a good company for us, good pay, decent benefits and really nice people in central dispatch.

To answer your question about bids essentially they are just dedicated runs from terminal to terminal. Wife and I ran wild (basically means OTR) for about 3months before a bid came up at our terminal. We now run from the Dallas Area to Kansas City every day. My wife drives us 512mi to Kansas City when our load is ready at about midnight, then I bring us back home the 512mi back to the Dallas area. Which gives us about 4hrs at home a night and weekends off.

We love our company and the two terminals we run between. Some are crappy and outdated, others are new and state if the art. But it's the same with any trucking company I suppose. Wife and I plan on putting in 5-10 more years in the industry and we plan on staying here for the time being.

Thank you for your reply, are you allowed to have pets? We have a cat and also we’re currently living in Vegas but thinking about buying a house in San António in the near future, I’ve read that if we switch terminals we’ll lose seniority, is that true? Also how is it running during the winter with them?

 

Yes you can have two pets, cats and dogs only though.

And yes you lose seniority as it goes by seniority at the terminal rather than the company. Although, like I said wife and I only had 3 months under our belts when we managed to get our dedicated run. We had the pick of running to KC every day or Wilmington, OH. 2 full runs and one half turn a week. (Basically a relay with a day cab).

Winter isn't too bad, being from Texas my wife and I have very little snow experience. So we shut down when winter is horrible. Which so far since we've been here was once when a big snowstorm hit the Midwest. They were very relaxed and understanding about the situation.

No problem! Hope it goes smooth for you guys! We did the interview, driving test, and DOT physicals. It was a very fast process. They wanted us to start that week, but we had to give our current company a two weeks notice. And they had no problems with that and were very accommodating.

 

Curious how the interview went?

 

We had the interview with recruiting Jan 24 and the terminal manager just called us this Friday feb 11 he interviewed me over the phone and asked for another one with him this Tuesday ( to be honest I don’t remember if he said interview or to meet us) what do you think? We might get the job?
