Trailer swing while backing and position of tandems?

    Yes; in the same way that the fulcrum of the seesaw is the pivot point because the fulcrum is what is holding the seesaw up.


    Frankly, no, not really. I'm not really confused any more.

    I was initially confused because I thought that for something to pivot, the something that pivots would have to bend somehow (like how the tractor pivots on the kingpin of the trailer). But it's the most obvious thing in the world that a seesaw pivots on the fulcrum without bending. That's just as obvious to me as it is to anyone else. THe seesaw analogy helped me understand this.

    "Pivot Point" altered by a Grab-N-Release DRY 5th Wheel.
    "Pivot Point" altered by a few FLAT Tires (leaving Rims) on Tractor AND/OR Trailer Regardless of Load Weight.
    "Pivot Point", as verified, Altered at Trailer Dependent upon PIN Setting.
    "Pivot Point" altered when Trailer not on same Level as Tractor as well on ICE.
    "Pivot Point" altered when constrained by Contact with Other Trailer or A Solid Object, say, a Building.

    Here are a few pics that show the result of tail swing... Driver pulled straight forward and then steered hard to the right... The tail of his trailer smashed my passenger side mirror.

    Wtf was this guy thinking, three more feet forward and he would have been golden. Or just skim right as he pulls out.

    I guess we all make mistakes but tail swing is something I try to keep in my mind
