Devil's advocate. But it depends on your loved ones and your/their risk factors. But regardless. It's a choice you should be making with your doctor.

 

Everything is modified in some way. No way around it. Say otherwise all you want.

 

Considering the vast amount of products that advertise being 100% non-gmo. You're still 100% wrong.

I know. Except you can catch and spread it regardless of vax status. So getting the jab doesn't change the fact that you might still kill grandma. So tell me in plain English how me, a 40 year old, is going to change any outcomes for anyone by getting the shot.

 

Think coin flip or rock paper scissors. Heck. Think lottery. You have a % chance. Vs no chance. Even if it is a small one. In my personal situation. I felt that even a 10% increase in the likelihood I'd not catch it or transmit it to my at risk loved ones. Was personally worth it.

Like the trucker who's happier with a truck governed at 75 vs 65. End of the day. Not a big difference. But he could be a little farther down the road.

 

That's my point. A 10% increase or decrease of what? Look at your chances of dying after infection for our age bracket. It's already so low that a 10% decrease in chances is meaningless. And you can catch and spread regardless of vax status. I guess I see your point about making the personal decision after weighing the numbers, but for me the numbers aren't even close to me bothering with the vax.

Right now, I'm literally in the same boat as the vaccinated, without actually getting vaccinated:
- Can catch it
- Can spread it
- Exceedingly minimal risk of dying from it

Look at this table. I've already got a 0.068% chance of dying from it. If the vax decreases that chance by 10%, then my new chance of dying is 0.0612%. Now tell me if there's a meaningful difference between 0.068 and 0.061

 

You failed to either read or understand part of what I posted. It's not me that I was worried about. But my loved ones. Mom's 85 and has a blood cancer. With daily chemo pills. Fiance has an autoimmune disease. So both have comorbidities and compromised immune systems. Technically I do as well. Since I started chemo in October. But I will be through with that end of next month.

 

I read and understood all of it. Looks like we just have different risk thresholds. The numbers might make sense for you, but they don't make sense for me. I'm not in the "any decrease in chances is worth getting the vax" camp. I understand why you got it. I'm not in your position, as my family members are all currently healthy. And I just don't have the level of empathy to get a vaccine just to minutely decrease the chances of spreading it to a stranger. Protecting other people is not my job. That's the vaccine's job.
