What's the job market like in El Paso?

EDIT: I CURRENTLY LIVE IN LAREDO. I AM AWARE THAT EL PASO HAS A LARGE MEXICAN CULTURAL INFLUENCE.

Alright folks, looking to move in a couple years and trying to decide whether I want to move to El Paso or Phoenix. Both places fit my desired criteria and financial situation.

I'm not trying to get a job today, I'm just trying to get a feel for if there's a decent market for jobs that fit my desired criteria. I know there's a whole stack of companies in Phoenix that run western regional, and my current company runs a dedicated Pods flatbed division out of Phoenix so I've got a job waiting for me already. I'm curious about El Paso specifically.

I'm trying to stay west of 35 or maybe western 11 or 12 regional if it's available. Hazmat and tanker are fine by me, NO REEFER (been there done that and you can keep it haha). I don't want to move to El Paso and find that the only jobs are running to the east coast or Detroit or something.

So how realistic is it that I can move to El Paso and find a decent company that mostly runs the west (and maybe the plains states)?

I had already looked at them, but on their website it does not show El Paso as being in their hiring area

They're a subsidiary of Prime, correct? I've heard good things about them. Any personal experience with them?

I wouldn’t live in El Paso for anything. Too crazy of a border town. I’d take Phoenix any day

They haul some Prime freight out of the Springfield, MO terminal.
The Western 11 is dry van. Don't know how it is now that Ashley Furniture bought part of the company.

Call and ask; sometimes websites aren't up to date.

I currently live in Laredo, El Paso is nothing new for me haha

Good idea. I also saw JB Hunt has a UT/AZ/NM/CO/west TX regional gig in El Paso. I don't know what working for them is like, but that region would certainly interest me a lot.

Again, I live in Laredo. My girlfriend is from Monterrey, Mexico. I'm very familiar with the culture of El Paso and the Texas/Mexico border in general

Then El Paso would be a good fit. Lots of Trucking Companies hauling border freight all across the country. As you are well aware.....same situation in Laredo. Good luck
