I always used a toaster oven for heating bearings etc. I am not sure though a compressor gear would fit.

Go with it. Should do fine.

I would let it heat soak for much more than 30min. I would make sure it is at temp for at least an hour before sliding it home.

I though 30 min sounded kinda low as well for that thick of gear bore. Ok thank you
Also, why cant i find any other cat engines that had destruction of timing gears becuase of foreign object or whatever in google search? Im trying to figure the possibility of the extend of the damage behind the cover

The damage could include all timing gears in the front cover, including the crank gear. Also has the possibility of a cracked front structure due to the bolt head getting jammed between the gear and the housing. Worst one I saw cracked the block around the idler bolt holes.

Well i suited up and pulled the hood off and yanked the radiator anyhow. So tomorrow morning should be pretty easy couple of hours. Just have to pull the fan and fan clutch, Alternator bracket and the balancer and pulley. Finally pull cover and see what kind of mess we dealing with. If its not too bad, ill post up a few pics. If its very bad, im just gonna put my glock to my temple so i wont be able to post pics.
Anyhow, i did pull the crack sensor and there was only a few tiny very thin shavings attached to the magnet. I looked up there and saw no damage to the crank teeth. I rotated the motor over once with the starter just too check again and saw no damge to teeth when i looked again. Wasnt gonna waste my time barring engine over and checking when the front cover is coming off

    shooter19802003 and Flint1 Thank this.

Its gonna need a crank and cam gear. Otherwise the chunks of missing teeth will continue to break off in the future/ wreak the new gears you are replacing.
If any chucks are missing off the teeth the gearset will always be noisy and not quiet like it should be.

I know it sucks but if you don't do all the gears now you will end up redoing the job again in the future.

bigguns, AModelCat, Flint1 and 2 others Thank this.
