Everyone complains about Swift but the truth is they are not as bad as most companies. All companies will tell the new driver that he will make $40,000 his firs year, be home every 2 weeks, and never unload a trailer. If you are looking for an easy job then truck driving is not for you. The only problems that I had with Swift were getting stuck in one of there terminals. Do everything you can to stay out of their large terminals and you will get miles. Also the 50 gallons here, 50 gallons there policy is a little stupid, just let me fill up and be on my way. At least they paid me for my work. 41cpm, and paid for everything else, detention pay, shrink wrap, stuff like that. Try to get that from most other companies. Good luck.

True that man! Everyone likes to bag on other co's and really don't see behind the scenes whats really going on...I just left my trucking co (that has a pretty good reputation) for the fact that they jerked me around when it came to my time off..I have a 4yr old that doesn't understand.."WE HAVE A SUPER DUPER HOT LOAD THAT NO NONE ELSE CAN DO..WE'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU SOMEHOW"...What a bunch of BS..I might be looking into Swift because they're huge, they have tons of accounts and they're trucks are newer then 2002 Columbia's..Maybe..LoL

Very valid points. I only get about 350 miles a day but am averaging .39/mile at the 1.5 year mark due to the sliding scale. I'm also home every day (night shift slip seater). I think every company has it's niches, you just need to find them and work into them.
