If you're going that way keep an eye out, many are still bound to be there.

I don't understand why some drivers still push through even in a horrific snow storm.

Lives, safety, protecting your CDL etc is more valuable than trying to make a couple extra dollars.

I drove in the snowstorm. I had loads booked one week in advance. It took double of my driving time. But I made it.

I drove the 65-40-30-20-10 corridor from Louisville to El Paso from Wednesday to Saturday/today. Lots of trucks in ditches as well.

Just got to know when to say when. Biggest mistake I saw on i-20 Friday was truckers pulling onto the shoulder instead of risking an icy exit ramp and not being able to move after stopping; or their tandems sliding off the shoulder and not being able to pull them back onto the shoulder. Also, truckers deciding to exit the highway in order to avoid traffic and ending up jack-knifed either on the tight-turn exit or when having to make a cutback through a tight-turn underpass.

It's tempting to take a quick break on the shoulder but when it's icy, that's exactly how trucks get rear-ended and/or get stuck.

Yup same thing on south & north 55 in Illinois. I was traveling 55 south on Thursday afternoon into the night. My average speed was 35 for 200 miles. I had one trucker tailgating me flashed my flasher to back up off of me. I looked in my mirrors I guess he wanted to pass me & ended up in the ditch so glad the line of trucks had backed off it would have been a mess.

The truck jacked across the road before it went in the ditch. I normally wouldn't drive in those conditions just not worth the risk (roads on Illinois 55 horrible on Thursday) but I "wanted to" deliver on Friday & not be stuck until Monday & throw off my whole system. I haven’t drove in those conditions in a long time. I see why I will always prefer not to.

The wreckers were like alligators just waiting for the meal to come across the river. It was at least 15 trucks in the median on both sides. Truth be told I didn't see a plow truck in 200 miles going south on 55 leaving Bedford Park il. I'll pass on those driving conditions for the future not my "cup of ice":D:D. Trucks don't make good for ice skating o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's important to recognize that no matter how safe or slow you think you're driving that doesn't stop the person behind/along side of you from losing control and sliding into you.

I have an enlightening story, I once had an extremely heavy load and thought hey I'll be okay in bad weather (wasn't as bad is this week though), I'll just keep it very slow and careful.

While driving I saw in opposition direction coming down a grade a jackknifed truck that was blocking ALL the lanes and cars and trucks siding right into it trying to stop.
Even the ones that did stop in time were screwed for a while at best.

Needless to say in that moment I reevaluated my life and decisions.

Tell me there's an Amazon trailer in the ditch without saying there's an Amazon trailer in the ditch...

My Amazon order is 3 days late and tracking says it was last seen leaving an Amazon facility in Ohio!
