I'm not asking because I want to do it. I'm asking why because I have seen some people do it and I was curious.
The lights are for sure blocked so I know you would need to have lights installed on the neck or if you have those custom mudflap bracket lights. Also another thing I know is licence plate would need to be cab mounted and not mounted on the back of the frame.
IF I were to do it, I would definitely be putting chains on to prevent side to side movement and from possibly jumping up. I'm actually surprised that a peice that heavy would bounce up from driving around on roads or interstates. Maybe a huge rutted road but common pot holes and it bouncing I'm surprised. Figured it would have taken a crater of a pot hole to bounce.
I was more thinking along the lines of the pistons and neck lift. Like say the pistons somehow fail and drop the neck down. Then it would hit the road. I was thinking would you legally have to block it with wood and chain it down. Less likely the block fails over hydraulic cylinders or structural integrity of the neck lift.

FYI a gooseneck will sometimes move when you detach and move 30 ft. Can be real fun to hook back up
OLDSKOOLERnWV, stwik, cke and 3 others Thank this. -
Ive done this exact same thing a couple times. However I have a Talbert and it has tail/stop/turn lights in the neck.
Once I was stuck on job site with a broke track hoe on the deck and went to the store to get some lunch…only few miles.
Second time my valve body took a #### after I had disconnected …so no hydraulics to move neck. This time I had the wrecker lift the neck and place cribbing between neck and frame then chained it down and it rode fine back to the shop. Trailer had to be towed.
However, I’m not making a habit out of it and riding around town with my neck hanging off the back…lol
