What did you find out? Rental for a tanker is $900 to $2k a month. Don’t haul hazardous at first and your ins will not be as high, and you will not need all VIK inspections for the tankers. I am about to venture off on my own too, so I have been checking into to some of the many things we will need - to tank on our own.

Maverick Griff and jbgrim72 Thank this.

You just going to rent a food service trailer then? Sure you can set up a MC407 for non hazmat. But it involves more than just not getting the VIK inspections. All of the placard holders have to be removed as well at any VIK decals. So whoever you rent from will have to be on board. To take advantage of opportunities to make real money, you need to be able to haul whatever comes up that pays. And that includes hazmat.

Maverick Griff, Rix43 and ChicagoJohn Thank this.

I wish you best but personally would have used the truck by self hauled for someone else or gotten a flatbed, I see a lot of people with like F350 haul crap for oil field and they make good money using flat beds hauling various stuff from backhoes to pipes.

Check out Nomadic Brit on Youtube. He's leased on to Schneider and hauls tanker. He has a lot of good info. If you go back to last year's videos he participated in "The Great Freigt Race" and he discloses his income. He does surprisigly well for being leased on and keeps his expenses at a minimum.

    Maverick Griff Thanks this.
