I am thinking about going back out as a lease operator but do not know where to start looking for health insurance at a reasonable price I was looking at 00IDA health and life benefits are any suggestions. Approximate cost would be nice to I have not signed up for the OOIDA membership yet to get a ride even.

Go to healthcare.Gov. Fairly simple. Same Companies, same policies. Must pick a high deductible silver, or bronze type plan, to qualify for a tax credit. Be sure to call them, don’t be discouraged if the estimates seem too high. Call them, once You pick a plan that fits. If You get someone who sounds too stupid, or difficult to understand or deal with. Hang up and call again. You can’t beat the actual cost. Just have an accurate estimate of your Adjusted Gross Income, Too low, You’ll get a very low premium, and pay more at tax time. Too high, just the opposite. Higher monthly premium and lower tax obligation, or larger return, whatever the case. Same total price either way. You can adjust the estimate any time during the year. Make any sense? Start comparing plans, participating Hospitals and Drs in your area. Be sure to get a National Coverage policy, that covers out of State if needed. I can’t believe OOIDA’s still selling Healthcare Ins. They should stick with what they know. I have the cheapest BCBS plan available. $7,000 deductible for each person. Wife and I ,total $14,000 deductible. Costs around $250 per mo. Best coverage I’ve had in years. Just as good as any they all had high deductibles anyways. So that part still sucks. Premium is 25% of what it used to be for similar policies. Do some research yourself. You’ll see, what I mean.

May as well bend over,,,, insurance costs will kill your operation, btw, I realize the irony of that statement. Failing for insurance reasons is the #5 top reason for failure, close behind #4, compliance. #1 through #3 are pretty obvious. My views on O/O's are well known here, in this day, I just don't recommend it. Chinatown posts so many great jobs THAT INCLUDE insurance, sorry, you want to feed into that BS, by all means, State Farm needs your money to pay our already overpaid football stars. Being an O/O can't be that great you'll do it for nothing. If you look at graphs today depicting insurance costs over the 10 years,, it's a steady uphill climb, with no end in sight. AND THEN, heaven help you once you find all you've been paying in,,"oh, sorry, your plan doesn't cover kidneys".

Insurance is affordable through the ACA marketplace. The subsidy cliff was removed so it’s much more reasonable. It’s based off your income so it really is affordable. If you have a terrible year and make little enough money, it could be free / super cheap with subsidies. My first year I made little enough I paid like $100 a month for 6 months for family insurance.
If you make enough that you don’t get a subsidy then you can probably afford insurance, or you need to reevaluate your personal spending.
If you’re disciplined enough, you can sign up every year saying you’ll make whatever you estimate you’ll make and then see what subsidy you get. Just save the actual amount you save from the subsidy, if you have a good year you’ll need to pay it back.Chinatown Thanks this. -
We just enrolled in Aetna the other day. It’s 500 a month for my husband and I, and it’s 80/20, with copays being 20.00 per dr visit. Prescriptions 10.00. Preventative care like mammogram free, hospital stay 200 if over 24 hr stay. It sucks insurance is so costly but when you need it, it great to have it.

I’m 53 and my husband is 43 so I’m thinking 500.00 a month is not terrible.
