I always tell my guys, you make darn sure you are at a stopping point before you walk away or move your focus elsewhere. Distractions during engine repairs is where bad things happen. Double check and tripple check if you need to. The second guesses will always be there at times, and we are only human. But this job is easy, because everyone else use to do it.

Well here’s one thing that bothers me, again I always think of weird crap just to make myself panic. I hated up cam gear and then positioned on cam and worked it till it spun onto shaft and into woodruff key and the. Fall into place. Then I start thinking 2 days later. Why didn’t I check to make sure woodruff didn’t pop off while setting cam. I even went so far as to check my shop floor for it lol. Well I’m sure it must have stayed put or the truck would t be idling so good being off timing if that was the case.

Question, how long can I safely idle my truck for with no coolant in it.

As short as possible. We will pull them out to park with no water and bring them back in but no further than necessary. Just enough to air up to full tanks plus few minutes is OK.

I'm afflicted with that OCD bull#### too. Gotten much better in the last couple years but in my late teens/early 20s when I first started in the biz it was really bad.

The worst is when you know its fine because you checked it 37 times but still wish you checked it 1 more time before sealing it up.

Good to know I’m not alone. Was thinking I was the only person with this problem. After running over injectors and Intake and exhaust, I slapped the jakes on and adjusted lash. Even used a marker to stoke each adjuster after setting lash. Went in to eat and then started to think I set wrong order. When I know #### well I didn’t. So this is how messed up I am. I went ahead and rotated motor over 2 more times and reset each dam jake lash. I need mental help
