Ooida. But we were brand new authority last year, we live in the Midwest and progressive accepted us right away. Maybe try calling progressive again maybe you will get lucky and get someone who will help you with your situation.

Try $25,000 down payment then $3,000 per month with both new new driver AND authority

Prime Insurance is the only company that will do new CDL and new authority in California. We just went through this, pm me for phone numbers and contact info, and be ready to spend some $$$

My suggestion would be to try doing a search for Truck + Insurance, and then look for an independent firm that specializes in only this. Perhaps someone like that mentioned above? Then let them use their software/tools/expertise to negotiate with Progressive. I just got insured myself recently as a new authority/new driver in another state with Progressive, and was told - and btw, I don't know how true this is - that Progressive is currently the only company in the US who will insure rookie drivers with a new authority.

I do have a few other thoughts:

1.) Your problem may indeed be trying to get insured in the state of California. Did you try going through Progressive's national online commercial truck insurance 'Quote' page? I was quickly accepted here myself for liability insurance (at a great price of $7,*00yr for $1mill coverage), but by the time I got through speaking with someone on the phone afterward and negotiating everything else - cargo, general liability, etc. - that quote had skyrocketed to $27k a year. And that was without any collision or comprehensive coverage on my equipment. But after later getting referred to and speaking with a small truck insurance specialist firm instead, they were able to get me an unrestricted interstate policy with $1mill auto liability, $2mill aggregate general liability, $100k cargo, and full collision/comprehensive coverage on my truck and trailer for $18k per year. I took it.

2.) You may also be running up against problems if you are young, have anything less than excellent credit, haven't lived in your current house for more than 3 years, have ANY kind of driving or criminal infractions on your record, etc.. I was surprised when Progressive's computer quote system apparently had a temporary data input hiccup with me as I was working with it, thought I hadn't had my personal auto insurance policy active for longer than a year, and then boosted the quote it was giving me by over $5k a year because of this one little detail alone.

3.) Last thing, and I know this will be a dream crusher. But if you're not able to get this problem solved, it may be worth looking into leasing on with someone for a couple of years? I gather you'll likely be treated much better because you own your own truck, rather than as a person who is lease/purchasing theirs. Or alternately, working for them as an employee.

    Good Luck

    Hi
Could you please send me your insurance agent’s contact info? I tried finding that company, but had a hard time. I’m also new CDL with new authority.
    Thank you!

Leasing on to a reputable company isn’t exactly a dream crusher

I did that for several years , and made good money

the company I leased on with had their own trailers and their own freight contracts , they were not working off of a load board .

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Can I have your insurance agent info please? My authority is 4 years old, currently on the market to get a bobtail. My CDL is 1 month old so, no experience.
