Better yet, go to the terminal and talk to some people there (most likely dispatch). See if you can catch the vibe while there.
Hit up a couple of other company's terminals (funny how they will cluster together in most cities).
Estes may be the LTL advertising, but they are all hiring.

The terminals are all strategically placed next where the freight comes and goes.

 

Yeah I was moving empties. We had one empty to lol, but enough dollies to make a set. So I grabbed a 2 wheeler and went and helped out a very very early morning chain route that was loaded on a 28' and was able to shave a couple hours off of his route so we could get his trailer. When I got to the distribution house all the slots for empty 28' were full, but there were not trailers pushed up against the doors, where in years past they would have pushed trailers up against the dock doors and in position so, I think there really is some kind of shortage, I don't know how many trailers are in need of repair probably 15-20 so your short 15-20 trailers already with just broken downs alone.

 

So this, is stupid, last night before I pulled into the distribution center unbeknownst to me, my lead trailer to door hinges on the right hand door snapped off and sheared off in half. It was beyond goofy I've never had a trailer door just break off like that ever or pop open which I don't think happened and just break off. So now I'm standing there next to the trailer with it's door all half ####ed and all the hinges broken in half going, well it wasn't like that when I got it and it wasn't. If it was I would have never pulled it to the warehouse, so somewhere between here and there the hinges which are metal break away hinges, did indeed fatigued out and broke. I think they fatigued out and broke when I was going up the final twisty 90 degree turns to the industrial park the warehouse is in. The bending and twisting of the trailer frame fatigued out the hinges which one of them could have already been weak to begin with and they fatigued and broke and they all snapped. I hope I don't get in any trouble, they didn't say or do anything last night, but will find out tonight. Oh whatever stuff happens.

 

Did you close the doors or hook up to it on the yard?
They generally shear off right behind the three bolts. If they were that close to failure, I would think that door would be hard to close.

 

The door was closed and secured. I did not hook up to it, it was already hooked when I arrived to work. I share my truck with a day guy I work the nights and he works the day. The trailer was empty so beyond looking to make sure it’s latched correctly I don’t play games with the latches to much. It broke right behind the three bolts. It was the main door that broke and the door used the most.


The shop said that overtime those hinges can go bad and fatigue and fail they said that has happened before.

 

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Any thing that can go wrong in trucking has gone wrong at least a thousand times before. You can't come up with something new under the sun.

The shop says it is a known problem with your trailers? It's happened before. Lol

 

So, your right so far so good. I mean the trailer door was all there so, take the broken hinges off rehang the door, put new hinges on and send it back out.
So end of the day management can't prove an accident and the shops going to say it could have failed on it's own, so then end of the day management I would hope has a lot better things to do then sit around and try and trump charges up to screw me, which at the end of the day doesn't really benefit management in the least either, so I think it's all water under the bridge.

 

Most places just wanna get on with business. No harm, no foul. Sweep it under the rug. Lol
