Well heck, our thread has fallen off to the second page. How's everyone doing heading in to the new year? I had my best year financially last year, and that was with the last 6 months of the year going home everyday. Our rates for road loads have increased quite a bit, and my first 6 months when I was still running the road were on par to have a stellar year, either way I'm still happy with my decision to come in off the road. I still get to see a lot of my regular customers, and I never have to haul scrap which is a huge plus. I thought there'd be a part of me that missed the road, but I can honestly say it doesn't even cross my mind, I do still use my refrigerator in the sleeper for cold drinks and lunch though . @Arctic_fox how goes it? Hopefully the truck is holding up and making you lots of money. @motocross25 Supercross starts tomorrow night, looking forward to that.
to all end dump haulers...

What's happening folks? I'm still around, been a busy few weeks around here. I've been doing a lot of south Florida back to north Florida which has been keeping me rolling, I think I'm about 9 months in to running "local" I enjoy getting out of the truck at the end of the day but I'll be honest, it's a much more tiring work environment. When I was on the road, I was rarely up before 5:30, I kept what most would say is a pretty normal schedule, rolling somewhere between 5:30 and 7:00, and shutting down somewhere between 6:00-8:00, now I roll out of bed at 3:45 and who knows when I'll be shutting it down, I'm also usually doing multiple loads per day.
Overall it has been a good move for me personally, I have no desire (at this time) to return to the road, I still get to see a lot of my regular customers, and have picked up a few new ones over the past few months. Hope everyone is doing well.kylefitzy, Slowpoke KW and Tall Mike Thank this. -
I'm back hauling cars for a living even though I swore I was done..
D.Tibbitt, kylefitzy and Slowpoke KW Thank this. -
At least on the city side we have our own trailers that we pull every day.Tall Mike Thanks this. -
I'm sure the money is better @Tall Mike I don't make a killin' pulling this bucket around, but I really do enjoy the work. There's not much I enjoy about trucking anymore unfortunately, but I do like the company I work for, my dispatcher looks out for me, and has for years, and I like my customers, those are the few (and very few) reasons I keep hanging in there.
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Around here it’s been business as usual relocatin rocks till Wednesday when it decided to snow for a couple days so I got a 5 day weekend, now it’s back to truckin come Monday.
Trashtrucker1707 and Tall Mike Thank this. -
Little change of pace for me, the company made the commitment to the home everyday deal and not seeing the need for the sleeper put me in this, 57 miles on it when I picked it up. Very lite set up, 29K pounds.

I'm not sure about the options, I'm a company driver and have been in automatics since 2017. I miss my 10 speed Vision, but we get new trucks in every 2 years, and because of the way I take care of them they don't hesitate to give me one.
NightWind, Professor No-Name, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.
