I once blocked the right lane of a main drag for 10 minutes waiting for a line of left turn idiots to get clear so I could make a right.

The first idiot in line gave up and turned right. Then a half dozen or so more appeared that were stuck behind the first. They got out, and then the first idiot appears again.

Here’s the kicker. There’s a traffic light ONE block north where they could’ve got out with a lot easier time.

So the first one went around the block, and instead of doing what he should’ve done in the first place like I thought he was going to do, he actually came back out in that same spot again. :banghead:

I recently had my 6 month safety review with a DOT officer in PA for having my own authority. I asked if there was any directives to pull these guys in more often. He said no. I gave him A LOT of information and told him it needs to be relayed to his superiors. I won’t hold my breath.

Its a long story. Something that has taken almost 9 years driving here to acquire.
But like @RebelChick said, I run up here all winter long, chain up if I absolutely have to, and do my job with zero hand holding. I would like to think my 42 years of this means something.

Down here on I-20 west of Fort Worth. Don't get down here too often. Can count on one hand the number of times I've been on this stretch of highway in the past 5.5 years, and I'd have fingers left over. Got a delivery to Odessa tomorrow, then back to Fort Worth to pick up something or other, which I will then deliver to Valdosta.

The load assignment as written would require me to have a working time machine on this bucket in order to make the Fort Worth pickup AND the Valdosta delivery on time. But as it is a drop, I'm not too fussed about it. I sent in a qualcomm message informing all and sundry of my inability to bend the laws of time and space, and that's about as much due diligence as I am willing to put in.

@JohnBoy , got to wondering today about how they did things in the old days. Was specifically wondering how they paid for fuel back in the '70s. Did you guys have corporate credit cards or something? National accounts with the truck stops? Inquiring minds wanna know.

Company checks that the truck stops had registered letting them know the company was good. Then it use to be comchek via checks only. You got a set amount on a code. The code was good for say $1000.

Don't forget cash, but that was back when you could trust a driver with cash. I remember some companies would not issue checks if you were in Nevada.

Here’s a first. Not the 700 mile day, that’s a common occurrence, the exact 700 is like the few times I got 666.
