This is a 20” widow maker I have. I think it was from a 6 bolt GMC. You can see were the two halves clip together in the center. You use the valve stem hole as the pry bar slot. Other then the corrosion trap of that area the major problem with them was there was no good way to visually check that it was latched. And most of them didn’t.
This one I keep for historical purposes like this. It has no air in it and it will never be taken apart because it will never get put back together if it is. -

They were designed and made by Firestone and were oem on lots of medium duty trucks and busses back in the day. Winabago used them. The military used tons too. Their poor design gave the lock ring design the bad stigma and name we still hear today.
