Questionable things have happened before. One year we owned A LOT more on taxes. Accountant tracked it down to a decrease in my withholdings but when questioned it was a “we follow the tax tables” answer. I didn’t feel like digging into it deeper to see if I could reconcile my taxes withheld to the tables that I didn’t have. Just assumed it was withheld at a too low of a rate and paid the taxes due.

One would think on Knight/Swift Payroll, State Taxes shouldn’t be an issue with Drivers all over.

Before K/S they would only withhold State Taxes for a few States.

Ya, one of the few things I miss about Florida. No State Taxes.

But they made it up in other ways for sure!!!

They’ve been in the benefits area for a few years too… that was my personal last straw and I made one phone call.

Yeah, they just blew me off too ignorantly and told me they weren't set up as if it was my fault when I know darn well I filled out the W4 correctly. It is against the law to not withhold state taxes and a felony. Sounds like they have been doing some shady accounting and nobody has decided to investigate it. They are creating financial problems and hardships on ppl in some cases doing stuff like that. No other employer Ive had failed to withhold anything correctly, only this place.

Agreed, it’s absolute BS and when I worked there I was blindsided with a tax bill from the state of SC.

This should tell you all you need to know about Abilene trying to save a few bucks off the backs of drivers. Another shady business practice is only paying owner operators and Lease drivers a portion of the fuel surcharge, at one time it was about half of the National average. If they’re pocketing a portion of the fuel surcharge when an O/O or L/P drivers biggest expense is fuel,
what other ways are they screwing drivers?

I did my best to make payments on it hoping no lien would be slapped on me but unfortunately they just did. I could only afford little payments due to my fiancee being extremely ill with cancer, crohn's disease and only 25% of her heart left which has a defibrillator running it along with the meds too. Everything I make here goes to her care and needs plus my check from the VA every month. Without certain meds her heart will cease to beat. I didn't want her to go without anything because I promised to take care of her as she promised to fight on her end as long as she could. There is a reason we aren't married yet that I can only explain in private as most probably wouldn't believe it anyway. I didn't want to starve myself either and not pay certain bills so I tried to juggle it all and failed. She probably won't survive this being how much the state wants from my pay. That is the biggest reason Im raging as in my eyes this place helped kill her. She is the sole reason Im still here because I was afraid if I left here she wouldn't survive the gap in pay. Most of everyone here probably won't agree with me and put the blame on me but it is ok cuz everyone has their own opinions and I respect that. If she does fail to survive I will definitely feel lots of guilt and even more raging anger.....
