$5500 not good enough when it's cheap to head into California.
You got $6 a gallon fuel over there.
3 year old trucks with half million mileage are $130k+

Costs too high to go down the road at $2.xx per mile.

Like I said. It’s been too easy for the last 3 or 4 years. People thought the party wouldn’t end. I’m still not convinced that this year will be the bad year. I’m leaning more towards next year. I remember when that load would pay 3500 and paying 4.50 or better for fuel.

Oxbow and Last Call Thank this.

Yes, parts were half as much back then, driver pay was 30cpm, new trailers were $20k and trucks $120k

But California outbound off a broker board has never been worth a ####. That’s normal. It’s sorta like saying Miami freight is cheap

    and this from Overdrive:

The current freight market is as good as it’s ever been, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. A majority of large carriers that owner-operator business services provider ATBS recently spoke with expect the current rates environment will continue at least through the end of 2022, if not beyond.

I’ve had a pretty darn good March. Maybe not as good as last March but still strong.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I think they are trying to convince us rates are dropping hoping enough guys will believe and start hauling cheaper so rates will truly drop. Cant tell ya how many times since january ive been told my price is too high yet a couple calls later i get what i asked for.

I gotta agree with that, the whole West coast was always crap comparing to Midwest freight, but still, that does not change the general idea, that everything was way cheaper back then.
A trucking company simply can't survive nowadays hauling for 2016 rates.

All west coast was playing to the moon during winter. I did a SoCal to Seattle area 1 & 1 for $9800 back then.

Overdrive must be trying to sell some $300,000 Cascadias.
