4-wheelers driving cars are busy bringing their 4-wheeler ways and attitudes into trucking. It's a race to see if trucking becomes an ethnic outpost or a refuge for minivan/SUV drivers.

After you set it to keep you in the center of the lane, how well did it perform? Did you turn it off because it couldn't stay in the lane, or because you didn't like having to fight the steering wheel when you wanted to maneuver?

Every time I think that, somebody else comes up with something like this.

You're a moderator. Can we waive the "no four letter words" in this thread? I was delivering brand new 2022 Cascadias for my carrier while I was having an engine put in mine. The first truck I delivered was an older, but I flat spotted tires because a brake wouldn't release. The guy at the shop asked me how come I didn't feel it. I told him that I would have felt it if it had a clutch like a real truck!

Anyway, on to this lane departure or whatever they call it. I left it on, then fought it the whole time! I kept yelling at the "following too Close" warning and adaptive cruise control (it would slow down at 400 feet) "if you mutha frigging ####-####ing piece of #$@*ING $/=' would go 75, then I could pull out and pass and not have to ride up on his bumper!" I kept yelling at it for shifting in a construction zone (no manual mode) putting itself in Georgia overdrive, downshifting every gear while exiting, starting in first, bobtailing, after I had it in fifth, then let it roll.

Please, waive the curse word ban for this one thread!

This thread could use a whole bunch of "four letter words". Unfortunately, the staff doesn't control the word censor (filter).

I think you did a good job getting your point across in spite of the filter.

I don't leave it on long enough to know how well it performs. With 30+ years experience driving a truck, when I lose the feel of the road and/or when I have to fight the steering wheel to maintain a lane position I want, it's time to make it cease what it's doing and put the controls back in my hands.

I've never driven a truck with that crap on it and I guess I never will. If I did I think I'd make @Bean Jr. little tirade sound like a Sunday school lesson. That, or I'd be hunting around with my wire cutters.
This business has changed faster and farther than I ever thought possible. Most of the changes haven't been for the better.
