Recently purchased a 90’ WS 4964F daycab 3406B fully mechanical w/ jake 13speed. Went through and upgraded pretty much the entire truck. Now I still have a couple issues that I haven't been able to solve. Mainly, the wipers.. they work only intermittently, and only on the fastest setting. Can’t seem to pinpoint what it might be… they will turn on sometimes and other times wont. But only on the fastest setting. Also, the speedometer wasn't working when I bought it, we ended up making it work but it is around 10-20km/hour difference in actual speed and it seems to be making a weird noise. Any info on this? Nice truck, my 1st was a '82, and I made money with that truck. Far as the wipers, sounds like the "delay" in the wiper motor is worn, I'm sure it has electric intermittent wipers, mine were air. I've had cars where that wears out, a new motor should do it. Otherwise, got to be the switch. If the speedo is off, there has been a gear swap somewhere down the line, and if it's still a manual one( not digital) there's a gear drive in the back of the trans where the cable goes, and that needs to be changed. I think yours is still a White product, and I heard when they became Freightliner in 2000, they weren't the same. Sorry about the crummy pics,,

Thanks for that, I just did my first run (mountain run)approx 60,000lbs and it ran like a dream. One issue i just encountered is i that the button/pull lever under the steering wheel that idles the truck stopped working? It seems like something came undone. Im not really familiar with this, could anyone help as to what It could be? Here is a picture of it.

Pretty simple on the hand throttle it either came unattached where the cable hooks to the throttle linkage by the fuel pump.. or the cable broke

It didnt come unattached to the linkage, nor did the cable break… there is a screw behind the housing for the button that holds it in, i took a wrench and pulled back behind the screw while pressing the button and was able to bring up the idle… do you have any idea how that button/screw works so i can somehow secure it back in place

Not sure about your truck but a lot of trucks have dip switches behind the speedometer itself. Adjusting them changes how the speedometer reads, basically calibrating it.
If you have dip switches make a note of where the positions are now because if you change them you're not sure which switches do what and you'll be messing with it for a while. You want to make sure you can get it back to where you originally had it because it's possible that on the highway your truck will only read 20 miles an hour or something like that.
It is a lot of trial-and-error to set them and it's not just the switches on the end it's the combination of how they are set. -
Great, I fixed the linkage, it ended up being that the RPM was set too low, i set it a bit higher at the back of the fuel pump and tightened the linkage at the correct position so it can engage at the right rpm. I had my driver take it for a run, first time this has happened; he complained that the engine shut off going downhill with a full load, he said it happened three times, he had the jake brake on and said was slowing down in a lower rpm? Could the engine shut off if the rpm is to low and the jake is on? Seems odd, im hoping it wasnt the other way around and he was going to fast and the rpm was too high. Let me know what you guys think

he let the Jake’s kill the engine. Mechanical and engine you need to turn the Jake’s off before the rpms get to low or you stop because it will turn the engine off
