If it was the type of cardboard compactor where someone (namely the cranky janitor) had to run wires and make bales then have to haul those bales away, I can see why he was ticked off.

Boxes that weren't preflattened wouldn't compact tightly which often meant the baling wires wouldn't wrap tightly and the bale would come apart when you tried to move it making a mess.

Guess who would then have clear all that up. I feel his pain.

Yeah, that's a big deal at the RV shops. 4 or 5 different companies doing it.

the benefits would be less trips to the dump, and more space filled up in those dumpsters, rather than near empty going to the dump. dumpster rentals cost big bucks, then what is called "tipping fee's" here for each time any truck goes to the dump.

every garbage/dumpster company pays those fee's and it too is passed onto the customer. so to have the trash compacted like that, ensures a full dumpster, and most likely less trips to the dump, especially for home remodeling, building companies, and the end user..the customer..

pretty good idea. but, i wonder if that smashing price is included into the service, or an extra charge

    Yes.
I am good friends with a guy that owns a scrap yard I worked for him for a few months several years ago while recovering from an injury and occasionally I get to play with some of his big stuff and make things into little pieces. It can make for a very relaxing afternoon

Some people were just born without logical thinking. That's the only excuse I can think of to justify some people's actions :biggrin_25523:
