When a broker or shipper cancels a load on a carrier, often times a TONU is in order. But when a carrier cancels a load, it coast the broker time and money to source new capacity. Sometimes there are obvious legitimate reasons. Sometimes it's obviously BS, they've found a better paying load and left you a mess. Other than blacklisting the carrier, is there any financial recourse, like charging a BONU (broker ordered not used)?
You've heard of a TONU how about a BONU?

Do you incur any actual monetary loss? I realize time is money, but I’m talking actual cash out of pocket? Most of the time the paltry sum offered only covers actual loss and sometimes doesn’t even cover that.

Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I would say it would be worth what $15 at most considering they only give $150 for a truck. I would have no problem with it either myself as I never bounce off loads unless I cant make it for breaking down or other job held me up too long.

Be careful what you wish for. My conscientiousness is what would keep me on a load that I might otherwise regret. If I could assuage that feeling of not doing the right thing with a small sum of money , I would be far more likely to cancel your crappy load.

That’s not really the same thing. I book an overweight load expecting to pay say 200 for a permit. Well the state denies that route and instead makes me take a much longer route. Now my permit is 300 and I have an extra 150 mile to run.
who eats that?KB3MMX, Oxbow, Another Canadian driver and 4 others Thank this. -

More options came up and thats why you are in the position you are in.
Would you rather have a small fee or would you rather I stuck to my word and pulled the load?KB3MMX, Dave_in_AZ, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
