Aight, bet. Here’s your data, with citations and sources. It was a “Google search away” or however you put that without doing so yourself. https://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/78th2015/Exhibits/Senate/TRN/STRN492I.pdf

The primary argument being articulated by the FMCSA is safety, not fuel economy. If this were about fuel economy (as the double nickel was about in the 70s and 80s), you would have to openly and honestly admit not all truck specs perform the same. The type of trailer and weights hauled affect fuel economy. Aero trucks get better fuel mileage. Long hoods bring better resale. Higher horsepower and faster speed get loads moved faster, low horsepower and slower speeds do not. Just as you cannot ignore the laws of physics, you cannot toss out economic motivations when this is, in fact, a business.

You aren’t trying to get anyone to sign a petition and you do not care if the mandate passes or not. Weird, you seem a bit invested in being patently dishonest on the subject though.

if they are going to enforce speed limiters mandate then trucks should get our own separate lane on the road, (two lanes on interstate)

Creates unsafe situations. And I think you can agree we all see it out here every day with 2 trucks side by side going 65 mph and a mile of angry motorists behind them. Tell me you think that is safe. It's an unnecessary regulation that seeks to fix a problem that does not exist. We have speed limits and all that needs to really be done is to enforce the speed limit law we have now.

Most drivers self police themselves because we know the consequences of a ticket are not worth it. Notice there's no push to speed limit cars. Wouldn't that make sense too? Of course not. You are basically a "useful idiot" for mega carrier lobbyists who want to regulate their competitors out of the business. Good job!

Have not read the whole thread, the "issue" is not limit, the issue is a dumb thing behind the wheel, he is driving with an almost 40 ton brick wall beside him, and still can not comprehend the danger by slowing down just ONE mile.

Them guys already drive speed limited trucks. The rest of us don't need that. This is just a push by mega carriers to shove older experienced drivers on out of the business into retirement. Or others to quit the industry altogether and go into other lines of work because of the BS regulations.

It's pure greed on the mega carriers part. They do not care about saftey. This regulation has the opposite effect on that. They want all the trucking business out here and they want that revolving door of cheap inexperienced drivers continually seating their trucks.

Look at the Canadian provinces that have a standard speed limit for all trucks. Not any real improvement on highway safety. The bigger issue is the lack of training we have in this industry, didn't the ATA just push through a provision for the megas to hire drivers with only learners permits?

You ever talked to anybody who was out here in the 80s when the speed limit was 55?
