Honorable intention to take months off at a time. There are plenty of us that do that. My advise is to keep a squeaky clean record and discuss with employer before leaving. If you are an asset, you’ll be welcomed back.
Another Canadian driver and Prstone50 Thank this. -
I take 16 days off every three months.
I think my company would work with 6 on 1 off.
But we want at least 3 years experience. You need it here.Another Canadian driver and Prstone50 Thank this. -
Hate to say it, but it’s a matter of playing a little friendly poker and calling their bluff. Trucking companies MAKE MONEY on YOU, the driver. If you dive hard, safe and on time and want to take a month or so off every six months, stick with the said company and let them know in advance, why wouldn’t they take you back? So they can NOT make money off you? lol I don’t think so. If you meet the above criteria most any small to medium sized company would allow it. It doesn’t really cost them anything but more profit and not losing a good driver.
I know a guy who drives 9 months, goes and lives in Thailand for 3 months and goes back to the same company. He’s been doing it for EIGHTEEN YEARS! Same company. They love him.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
