So while I’m watching real time rates dropping for open deck compared to just 2 months ago, I’ve never had so many people asking me at the truck stops, or anywhere I’m stopped, how’s flatbed, because they are switching from van. “And by the way, is 6 straps enough?”

Hang on everyone, we’re about to enter race to the bottom on open deck, and they don’t realize they are entering right after it tipped down.

The good thing I guess for trucking in general is that van rates will be able to go up since they tryna all to switch to open deck an flatbed dealers will sell some equipment too.

One of the, not only, reason I got into reefer from the beginning is its tendency to be the most recession proof freight. Not that it isn't subject to variability, but from what I know, tends to have the least of the different types of freight.

These the same people that are calling us crazy for working to hard and how stupid we were 9 months ago?
They won’t last long in open deck OR box freight. I can out work them all day every day and, can run a much more efficient too if I need to?

    Van rates are unbearable now.
    People are desperate.

They're switching to open deck because they think that's where the money is right now.

Right, the thing is the money is nowhere in trucking right now.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a hot summer this year, just like 2019…

…a lot of trucks burned down on the side of the highway back than.

We called those Friction Fires where I’m from. Too much friction on the checkbook.

Went to hit thank you and hit reply

    But this won’t last long.
It’s the same as when shippers find that 1/2 price driver etc
Once their loads end up in the ditch or damaged then they’ll be out of business
