Saw a Maserati SUV yesterday. I guess the owner chose this color so it's easier for the tow truck driver to find it when it breaks down :)

I tell ya what, it's not uncommon to find comments about the skill level of the Chicagoland white Volvo seat warmers that travel the highways with us, but the last few days, it has been the white Cascadias from Commiefornia that have been taking over Volvo duties out here. Rolling along at a Shaffer pace, glance behind me and I see that it appears that someone has installed door mirrors on the rear of my trailer. Glance in the other mirror and the shadow appears I am pulling double 53's, then a white Cascadia jumps out from behind me, and low and behold, as he passes me, he's from Commiefornia. I swear, some of these idiots were so close, if I woulda farted, they would have smelled it almost as soon as my butt cheeks stopped flapping.(sorry for that graphic visual, send the bill for therapy to Tonn).

Yeah the Cali drivers love nose to tail, I once had a ChiP behind me while I was passing at 65 mph just not to be stuck in line…he just drove off into the distance.

Of course when they’re outside of CA their usually running at 75-80 mph…

Whenever I'm in Cali I always have those trucks on my a$ for miles! Then they pull out and speed away and I'm wonder why they chose to follow at my 55 mph speed for 10+ miles. Yes I do 55 miles....the whole way up and down i5. Takes forever to get anywhere and last time I went in didn't even hit 500 miles for a full 10 hours of driving through Cali. Feels like I'm now the only one who follows the speed limit cause whole army of trucks be passing me, or on my butt waiting for a gap in traffic to get around.

On that note I finished my 34 and my regular dispatch gave me the load I turned down 3 times again, however it's appointment was changed to a Saturday 7am delivery.

Was given the option to tcall it at one of our drop lots in either Stockton or Ontario. While I sat contemplating which would be better, dispatch came back with a new load.

I'm to deadhead to Richland, WA and grab a 6am live load headed down to Houston, TX for a Saturday delivery. Place is a live but no set appointment, just show up within a 12 hour window to get unloaded.

So a 1000 mile run turned into a 2500 mile run however it's delivery date means a 1100 mile week but I'll start the next payweek at 2500 miles.

    Edit

Just trip planned the load and its going to be tight.

Over 2400 miles with just 4 full days to do it is possible if I run over 600 miles everyday but even the slightest delay will mean a reschedule on the other end. Truck is also due for service and this load too tight for me to get it in.

This whole "head in and see if they'll let you drop early" crap has burned me again. By the time I was allowed to drop and hook, get the trailer cleaned out, and got to the shipper, it was so close to shift change for them that I have to wait for 2nd shift. Which means now I won't have the hours to leave and make the mandatory 200 miles into Cali, so I get to stay here tonight and run the load in tomorrow and burn up most of tomorrows hours delivering. Once in a while, I would like to have 1 load go without a major screw-up. Makes one seriously consider bankruptcy and retirement so I can just tell the trucking industry to go #### itself.

Got me on Sunday. 1000 appointment. I got there at 0030. They aren't open on weekends. Reopen at 2300 that night. Sent broker all info. They ignored me. So I went home. Told them I now deliver when I say since I’m on days off. Scored layover pay too. Thought I was gonna have to hold Uncle Bens rice hostage for a few more days.
