Finally getting around to installing my Ac and generator. Will post pics in a few days after I’m done.

FYI for anyone reading and considering an APU. Early on I was interested in the GoGreen APU out of Altoona PA ( not the Green APU of Illinois) Its a very large unit which could be an issue. Smith Transport uses these units and I have parked next to and nearby a few and they are LOUD. I like how they are built otherwise. But that noise was ridiculous even four trucks away.

The problem with those portable AC units is they won’t cool the entire cab. You might be able to get like a little pocket cool air by directly blowing it on you in your bunk area. They pull in so much air from the outside the hot air is just recirculated immediately back into the whole cab. If you’re OK with the air blowing directly on you to keep you cool it will kind of work. Otherwise it’s a waste.

you obviously don't know what your talking about.....

A portable ac pulls in ZERO outside air....! It pulls on INSIDE air, as in from inside the cab and vents the hot exhaust air out a hose "6in" thru the wondow.... and my 5,500 btu portable ac sitting between the passanger seat and the dash does just fine at keeping the cab/sleeper cool....

and as to air blowing on you.... well your sleeper vents (truck ac or apu) blow on you so you point would what....??

You need to Google and read the studies on them they’re the least efficient air conditioners ever made. In fact they don’t really work. They cool and immediate area by blowing on that area but everything surrounding it stays pretty much at the same temperature. I understand how they’re supposed to work, but they don’t.

Great review BUT it's Consumer Reports and they are known for UNFAIR testing....

How a portable ac works in a 10 x 30 room (mines rated for 300 sq ft) has little to do with how it works in a mush smaller semi... it will pull it down from a non pre cooled out side temp of 90° to 65° in under 30min... not loud at all... I sleep just fine with it running... it used 750w when running so efficiently it not a issue...

I mean if it works for you that’s all that matters, right? I’ve used them before I just wasn’t impressed. I used to have a stealth van that I used for parking and staying in in populated areas and I used one of those. And as long as I had it blowing right on me I stayed cool. What I did with mine is I just put a curtain partition across the front of the van cracked the windows in the front and had the vent pipe just blow into the front part of the van. It wasn’t perfect but it kept it comfortable enough to sleep. Even when it was like 100° out.
