"Problems" they can use as an excuse to make more laws to further erode our freedom.

This was done because of Covid rates was so low. Then when they let everyone run for as many hours they wanted on the covid deal they wanted to make more money. Then of course rates shot up and they kept it going. Nothing to do with safety or wanting to keep drivers. IT was pure greed on companies!

At what expense? Is there anything that you think should not be sacrificed in favor of "the greater good"?

And, who are you (or some bureaucrat) to determine what constitutes "the greater good"?

In the vast majority of cases it ain't true. The government serves its own interests, not ours.

Yes, and it should not punish those of us who are not wrongdoers. I do not understand why you refuse to acknowledge the distinction between the two.

That's fine, they don't have to catch them all. Law enforcement officers have plenty of job security catching speeders, in both CMVs and POVs.

This is the kind of thought process that leads to Fourth Amendment violations. The penalties that come with a speeding ticket are deterrent enough.

if the law passes. this is the beginning to the end of the small business guys in this industry. its time we stand up and fight against these big greedy basstards.... just remember if you feel powerless in this industry as a 1 truck guy, theres only 100 or so companies with more than 1000 trucks in their fleet. the majority of this industry is guys like us and small fleets and we have the full power to fight.. all it would take is to come together and stand as 1. thats it. quit taking the ########.. when the shelves are empty and people dont eat, they may get some sense about them and realize the #### we put up with everyday. but then again, truckers standing together as 1 and regular people having respect for the truckers that provide for them may just be a pipe dream.... maybe one day, in another life.

The small guys ain't going anywhere man. The same was said when the ELD mandate came about. Some small businesses went under, others adjusted. The same will occur here. Folks can come on these forums and gripe all day, but no matter what mandate passes, everyone just adjusted. The small guys that survive will figure a way to make money in spite of the government. Goods cannot be moved solely with megas or medium sized companies with mega abilities. That ain't nearly enough trucks.

Who am I? My name is Bryan. Pleased to meet you....once again. Look man, you're getting so riled up about my viewpoints. That's all they are. What you and I consider the greater good are evidently on 2 different spectrums. So many of us truckers act like our world is the only one that matters. Unfortunately, law makers see it differently. I only said that I'm in favor of acts that benefit the greater good as an expression of my personality. I tend to think less about myself and moreso about others first. That's sometimes what fuels the way think on things. I don't always agree with rules and regs but I ain't gonna ##### about it either. I don't have an issue with the speed limiters one way or another man. Besides, they actually have to pass the law first. Its so much strife and nothing has happened, and everyone assumes the worst. The trucking industry is fine, in the sense that it's accomplishing what it's supposed to do. It will also be fine regardless of whether this law passes or not.

You have no idea what I consider "the greater good," but more importantly, you don't seem to acknowledge that there are factors to consider other than what you define as "the greater good."

Also, nice job on once again ignoring my questions regarding your opinions, thought processes, and worldview.
