I'll give you the inner X1 award for length. BUT you had way too many facts and references, You fail on the X1 embellishment award. You should've included aa great white or whale knocking down or eating the foundation. Maybe a seal or sea lion pulling it out to sea.
I did enjoy his ramblings. Your post was a close second.
Have a good day.
I agree, everyone who owns property on the coast has to know Mother Nature will win in the end. No matter how much is spent on "beach nourishment"

That house in the picture by the way is a perfect example of an older home down here. The weathered siding is usually seen on the older homes.
Did you ever get to experience Stop N Shop when you were here? I think they opened around then, or a couple years later. Great subs. They are on the beach road, in KDH. Back then they would've been one of the few places on the beach road with gas. Was the Chevy dealership up in Kitty Hawk/Southern Shores? We have a Chevy OBX right there at the bridge now when you come across.

LOL. Their a bit more picky then that. I think nowadays it has to be built back a certain amount of footage. I will say this for my county, they haven't allowed the sandbar to get as built up as other east coast beaches. They keep making developers mad, because they won't allow the big giant hotels, or resorts, or tall buildings.

Black Pelican is still there. Was even on Diner's, Drive in's and Dives. Jolly Roger is still here also, if you remember them.
Dealership is still there also.
Stop n Shop might have been the hole in a wall shop. The original owners sold out...about 8 or 9 years ago if I recall properly. Nice folks, as are the new owners.
I see I'ma have to take some photos.

I doubt it to, as far out as it is. That is what a lot of older homes look like here though. Especially around Nags Head. The weathered siding you don't really see much anymore. The newer homes are all fancy weird colors. I'm a fan of the older homes. Might be old but they've survived a lot of crap mother nature has thrown at them.
I'll have to take a trip down Hwy 12 here soon and get some photos. I can just imagine people thinking we have a ton of houses built out in the breakers.
