    Hi am a 39 year old British truck driver in the uk who has been tramping for nearly 9years but looking at immigrate to Canada to become a long haul truck driver???…..just wondering if there is any other uk drivers in Canada that can give me advice???

    What advice do you want? I did it 12 years ago and it worked out for me.

    I don’t know where to start the process do I apply for a work visa first????

    Once you've made your mind up where you want to be ( it's a large country and very different from one side to the other) you would normally find a company that will hire you and do the work permit paperwork. You have to retake your class 1, that's more complicated now than it used to be but there are companies that will arrange that too.

    Here just over 10 years now....long haul Canada/US. Its ok but things have changed, there is a lot of BS to deal with. You will have to do your Class 1 and airbrake test here, if you have to pay for that youre looking at $10,000+. It is most definitley not a family friendly job. I would look at other options personally, or stay put in Englands green and pleasant land!
