Kind of hard to follow the FMCSA list, but you can see what is and isn’t exempt as far as potatoes are concerned. Bagged potatoes that haven’t been cooked appear to be exempt.
Make sure you stop before you exit the other end of your exemption if you haven’t been off duty for 10 hours yet, that way you don’t end up starting your clock again and end up having to take a full 10 a few hours down the road. Stop early and leave with a fresh 11 sooner.
Can I use AG exempt

This is going to be a state by state thing, also a lot of time it needs to be tagged as farm and “for the benifit of the farm” to qualify

Stick a pin in your starting point and measure out 172 miles and draw a circle.
As long as you stay inside that circle you are good and can acually drive more than 150 miles.
You can 'ping pong' all day around inside the circle and be under the exemption.Accidental Trucker Thanks this. -
Can you use split hours with ag exempt?
-
Using round numbers for example, lets say you start your log with a pretrip and some driving. You reach the edge of your radius and then drive 3 hours to your pickup. You spend 2 hours loading, scaling, and getting paperwork. There just happens to be a nice place to park 3 hours up the road from where you loaded. Your off duty time is at 8 hours. You pull in and grab a nap for two hours and then start your log again with a fresh 11 and 14.Accidental Trucker Thanks this. -

I see fresh "WHALE" meat is on the exempt list. Now where would anyone be hauling WHALE meat?????

You can see in the table this - Vegetables, Bagged >>> Exempt.
I don't think the potatoes are dipped for preservation, one reason why I was asking where it was going.
