Question for my fellow truckers in the Greater Seattle Area. Employer Recommendations? Class A

YRC has been hiring in Seattle. Need drivers real bad and health insurance is free for the driver and family.
Need drivers so much, they have their own cdl school now.

Costco DC in Sumner WA usually have a sign up for CDL A drivers.

 

Costco Sumner, WA is the best run facility I have ever been to. Wilson Logistics had lots of the yard truck work when I was there last fall. One of their drivers is/was a regular on this board.

 

Truman Truck Lines Sumner, WA. It's dry van. Nice people. I don't more details.

 

If you try linehaul/LTL and don't like it (as is the case with some people), you'll likely want to look into tanker opportunities.

At that point--it will help out quite a bit if you (also) have a TWIC card.

Having one definitely helped me score the tanker gig (fuel) that I have now.

Suggestion: you might consider going ahead and applying for one NOW....so that if/when you need it, you'll already have it.

I understand that fuel haulers out there are doing quite well.

Tanker driving is a big improvement over dry van and reefer.

 

ODFL has terminals in the south Seattle and Tumwater areas, and both terminals are hiring.

I think we met one morning at Costco. I was the Wilson hostler at one point, then went back to driving, but I'm no longer with that company.

The only thing to be aware of about Costco is that you need to be prepared to possibly work weekends, and for the first time last year they went to an annual "bid" system, where times and runs are bid on by seniority.
