So which one of you have 180k laying around to order a tesla semi truck. I am thinking about starting a tow truck business because there will be enough on side of the road with dead batteries to make me a millionaire in this recession .
Who is ordering their tesla semi truck

If I did local only with no night driver it could be nice.
With current limitations it's just not practical for most trucking applications.
Someday, but just not yet.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

I’m not opposed to an electric truck
We do need to get there so this is how it starts
I do like some of the features etc but that charging thing is a huge problem
I don’t understand why couldn’t there be a smaller car engine in it like our Apu’s that would kick on and off to charge as needed?
Wouldn’t that use less fuel while making this a much better OTR truck?
Or is that just not a possible option?Dino soar, olddog_newtricks, gentleroger and 4 others Thank this. -
Most biggest concern would be the service network. Or lack thereof I should say. The cost is going to be astronomical to diagnose and troubleshoot.

If the truck can do what Tesla claims it will probably be successful all they need is to build out the charging locations.

If you thought the line was long before …Cat sdp, Vampire, Aamcotrans and 8 others Thank this. -
I think Tesla is claiming 30 minutes to recharge for 400 miles. They will have Megawatt chargers. You can drive 300 or 400 miles and stop for 30 minute break and recharge
