You are wrong on this one.
You should have bring it back to their yard.
Take lots of pics and return the keys.
    Don't you understand your responsibilities?
Don't you understand why you are hired by a carrier?

    JoeyJunk and merv85 Thank this.

Forced by the driver abandoning the truck.
Not much choice left for the owner.

Thanks Dave, I was trying to figure out what was the Act of Moral Turpitude that was committed in a story about this guy's trailer tire.

Normally we don't allow insults to other members but in this case we'll cut you a little slack. You're new here and you need to learn how this place works.
These guys are trying to help you and you need to realize that.
You made some mistakes but thats not the end of the world. Everybody, including me, has made mistakes.
When your mistakes are pointed out to you don't get angry and start chewing on people. What they've said so far might not be what you want to hear but it's obviously what you need to hear. Mistakes are part of the game.
Give the other members a chance to help you through this. Or not, your choice entirely. But if you continue to insult people your stay here will be very short.
    Lighten up, and listen.

Blowouts happen all the time, they're not that big of a deal most of time but still not ideal. Next time if you have tire wobble try telling them you think the wheel bearing is done for and the whole set appears ready to run for the hills. The hub and all leaving the trailer is generally bad for everybody. From the picture the tire itself doesn't appear all that bad, shot definitely but not something I'd be that afraid of running a couple hundred miles.

To be fair, he might have actually done a pre-trip. Sure there's a 99% chance that he did not, but I personally have ran into something close to that. Brand new tires, did a pre-trip, and 300 miles later the tire was horrible looking like that tire does in his picture. Simply a bad tire is all. Got it replaced at the next truck stop under warranty and aall was good.
Point being, sometimes stuff just happens no matter how good the pre-trip is done.

I am thinking there are two sides a story. I don't see anyone sending out a tow truck to haul a loaded vehicle and trailer when a road service call would be 4x 5x 6x cheaper

I'll mark it in my DVIR as a minor defect and report my findings.
If 2 or more tires on the tandem are like that it's already into Major defect territory.
Record and Report. Drive if Minor. Repair when possible.
Park if Major. Major could means more Minors too.

JoeyJunk, The_vett and BennysPennys Thank this.
