Great points! In that open void I'll put some 5' concrete bollards or possibly a dumpster with bollards spaced enough to let a garbage truck in and out. Either way, that's a good catch and thanks for pointing that out. We'll put something there.

That's similar to what my old man said. He's not a fan of that layout either.

I think we'll put some bollards there or a dumpster or something. Easier than having a guard knocking on a sleeper every night. We'll set the bollards back enough to where the truck parked to the immediate north doesn't have a hard time exiting their spot.

Thanks for the comments! 2 definitely seems to be the favorite.

How strong is the demand for bobtail only parking? I'm all for allocating spaces for bobtails only but finding the right ratio is tough. 80/20 or so? 80% being tractor trailers and 20% being bobtails?

If you can change the layout after you've completed the site, provided there's not a ton of red tape, then I would just leave them all as standard sized spots and modify it if you notice a large amount of bobtail customers. If there is a lot of port/rail and drop/hook facilities nearby, you'll see a larger ratio of bobtail trucks. If it's long term paid parking, a lot of people will try to park their bobtail at home or somewhere else, since it's probably safer, cheaper, and/or more convenient. If the city or county enforces commercial vehicle bans in residential areas, you might have more bobtail customers who need a place. Now that the gaps in the sides of #3 layout have been filled, it makes more sense to leave them as full size.

2 for all the stated reasons. Just curious, is the center row when coming in the gate that is not angled, going to be back in from one aisle or from either one?

Go to any of the truck stops in that area and there is a lot of bobtails long term really can't believe Love's and Pilot allow this at these truck stops are nightmares. Would leave it as is start cutting whole spots in half down the middle parking stops for bobtails leave the out side fence stops for backin's .

You know why? The drivers pay the employees to allow that.

Should not happen but it is.
