Who says they are selling them? I read, class 8 truck sales are down 40% since January, and still sliding. I think the only ones buying BRAND new trucks, are fleets that require new trucks. I highly doubt many O/Os are buying any new trucks at that cost, more like throwing in the towel. You want a truck, THERES your market. There will be plenty to choose from soon.

    $160,000...??

    really...??

i thought the going prices for new was like at about $200,000...???

only dumbarses are paying that kind of money, like first time buyers that just gotta have it and be on thier own, and charge like 90¢ a mile to run it.

Just a quick check on FB Marketplace, there are oodles of decent pre-emission trucks for $20g's. And their prices have that "slash mark", so the "meltdown " has begun. 1984 W900, big sleeper, $24g's,, a '85 W900, $20g's( marked down from $26), even a decent 352 for $20g's. I'd say it's a buyers market,,if you're dumb enough to even think about that today.

last new one i seen was $265,000.

If i be good, it someone may win the lottery and park one out front.
then i can whine and ask why they spent that kind of money on a truck, they could’ve given me the cash and in wouldn’t have to work.

that's what i'd have done, griped about spending it on a depreciating object, over a nice home with land, that APPRECIATES in value...and of course retire.

I wouldn't call trucks that old at those prices a buyer's market. By the time the necessary work gets put into those trucks, you may as well have bought a more up to date truck.

Yes and no. It depends on the truck honestly. Besides you can limp a sick old iron along much further then a new plastic truck and can do a lot more of the work yourself.
