    3) First Fleet
    4) Smith Transport
    5) Cargo Transporters

thats what i was looking for, thought being out 2 weeks was OTR its how i've always ran and i know at the companies listed there they basically said can go home every 2 weeks or 14 days.....i know first fleet and cargo are home every week or weekend. roehl and marten told me 14 days then off 2 or 12 days off 2.....

Question is do you actually run 14 consecutive days ?
If your sitting 5 days out of 14,that isn't what I call making a living.
Drivers are out here to make money, knowing what amount they need to cover the bills they should run till they make it.

Far to many settle for short checks in favor of going home on a certain day.

Way too many ins and outs on your question.Number one I would reccomend Roehl, because I drove for them, and I was always treated fairly. With the new rules in effect on your log book,if you are running hard you will run out of hours before your two weeks are up.Be prepared to change your life style, and yeah OTR aint for everybody. When I started into OTR I was the perfect candidate, recently divorced, had just went thru a plant closing, was too young to retire, and I didnt mind being out on the road for weeks at a time.It aint a bad life, but forget about family activities on the weekends, etc. You are gonna be somewhere else, probably halfway across the country from home. But if you really apply yourself you will make it.GOOD LUCK

I understand and appreciate it. Like I said I have drove OTR almost 15 years and during those I was usually on the road 2 weeks at a time then home for two working for outfits like Shaffer and J.B. back in the days of cabovers. I made decent living then but don't recall ever having to stay on the road weeks at a time and never see my family.....I always heard from guys that did that they didn't really make much more than i did. If it has changed to where you need to stay out that long to make any money at it then i guess I'm in trouble. I can't stay away forever to support my family cause if I do that there won't be a family to come home to.

I'm not a newbie here have been there and done that but right now I'm tired of bringing home $300 checks every week when I know from talking to drivers I can easily double that and not live on the road forever. I would be happy to GROSS about $1,000 per week and know thats do-able.

How long have you been out of it?

15 years - you should pretty much know how it works.

Reading thru the forum can give you company specifics.

I'm still in it. Just the place am at now really went downhill fast and i'm getting so far behind on everything at home.

Trust me i have been driving long enough to know im not gonna get rich doing this. I probably have over 2 million safe accident free miles in.

I know how it works was just checking on some comparisons, but im sure you know on here you see a lot more negative than positive on any companies im sure its just the mad drivers tend to talk about it a lot more.

The best way im sure is just when im out on the road just talk to the drivers themselves in the trucks. that will get me the best honest answers.

But, i like to use the boards here for a reference also and do appreciate any and all advise.

    Thanks.

The 14 day rule means you stay out for 14 days. Then you will get 2 days off. What you may find is your dispatcher scheduling you home in 12 days and expecting you back out on the 34.

Good luck with your dream. Just remember, dreams and reality dont co-exist.

Hey driver here is a link to Tyson Fleet. The only reason im not working for them is I cant stay out two weeks at a time. From the drivers I have talked to they run and sometimes very hard. http://www.tyson.com/Corporate/B2B/Logistics/
    Good Luck in your search.
