KINGSPORT — A Maryland truck driver was fatally shot by another trucker on the side of Interstate 81 on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Alex Erik Miller, 42, Edgewood, Maryland, was killed in the incident, which happened around 4:45 p.m., according to a release from the Kingsport Police Department.

The other trucker, a 34-year-old man, who is not being identified as of yet, is cooperating with investigators, the KPD noted.

The release said both men were driving their tractor-trailers northbound on the interstate approaching the Airport Parkway exit when their semis came into contact.

The pair then pulled to the side of the road and exited their trucks.

An argument ensued and the other driver then shot and killed Miller, the KPD said.

One person is dead, the other person will spend the rest of his life in prison, for what? It is beyond reason or belief that this type of behavior happens. Is it too hard to swallow a little pride and walk away from a conflict? Now, not only do the consequences affect the two drivers, think about their families.

well we really don't know exactly how the incident happened. then too we don't know who the aggressor was. it could have just as easily been the dead guy.

hopefully there will be an update, but i ain't gonna be looking for it.

as it is now, all sorts of people are road raging.....which is why i carry, legally of course.

and THAT's the problem right there...

many states, like mine, one must go thru a background check. from the NICS and the local police dept of where the person resides, before you can buy a gun......legally.

of course, many more guns are bought on a street corner........

......or have a fisticuffs contest or yell and scream at each other or dance the night away or.......
Another REASON WHY Wife & I Are SO GLAD I'm No Longer Driving Class A or B Trucks.

I had a few "Trailer contacts" But The others Were, usually, in a drop yard when I was In A Switch (hitter) Truck. Some Other "incidents" Were With Day Cabs and Full Grown Road Trucks (O.T.R. Sleeper, Mid Roof And Full Size).

This is what we have to look forward to, kids tempers as adults.
Couldn’t give a good ### whipping without someone screaming child abuse no matter how much you really wanted to grab someone up and wear their ### out.

Thinking beyond "this moment in time" is a good thing. Some people are just too stupid to think. The saying "bring a knife to a gun fight" comes to mind. Bringing a gun to a traffic alteration is dumb.

If you are going to carry, then the threat better be real before you draw the gun. That being said, we don't know the facts

Playing devils advocate yet again here we dont have any more facts about this case. It is ENTIRELY posible and even likely the dead man is the agressor. The media loves to potray every single shooting regardless of if its self defense or not as if the one doing the shooting is a crazed psycopathathic murder hobo.

Further the dead perp has a criminal record for assault, rape and armed robbery according to a public record i found in a twatter post on this shooting and a single mention on one of those gun violence victim sites. of course thats IF its the same man, which without even a photo is hard to confirm. Though the fact the record is from the same town as the dead man supports this.

This means it is entirely posible and given the dead mans record and the shooter cooperateing with police freely, even likely that the man who shot the other driver was defending himself. If mr alex got out with a bat, hammer, shovel or whatever and threatened the other driver then id say there are even odds the shooting is justified.

Of course until and unless we get more details we just wont know. It would also not be the first time the media spun a story as "man murders inocent man with gun!!!" Only for facts to come out later that the man who died was currently in the process of trying to perform non consentual open heart surgery with a chainsaw on the guy who shot him or something to that effect and they never do anything more then unpin the story because it goes against the "guns bad" naritive.
