For the In-Cab, am I supposed to start with the truck off?

I plan to begin by mentioning the fire extinguisher, three triangles, and seat belt. Then I plan to turn the truck on with the engine on to see the lights come off, read the gauges, then move on to mirror, windshield, wipers, horn, and then heater and frost. Finally, mention the steering wheel doesn’t move more than 10 inches and begin with the air leaks test. (I know how to do the rest).

Is this correct or did I make a mistake here? I am told you have to, after mentioning the seat belt, extinguisher, and triangles, shift to on without the engine running, to wait for the gauges to go off, and then turn it fully on. But is this incorrect?

Are you in school? If you are how did they teach you to do it??

personally i would do my full in cab, then turn the key to check the gauge sweep, abs lights, & parking brake light indicator. Then start the truck.

Yes. You begin the in-cab pre-trip inspection with the truck turned off.

Understand your confusion. But, it is kind of logical to start the pretrip with the engine off. When you step into the truck, the engine will be off. When you think about it, it does make sense to start the in-cab pretrip with the engine off because it already will be.
