They also have verbiage in their Agreement that states they're not paying the carrier if their customer doesn't pay TMC. How's that for adding insult to injury?

I usually only call on posted loads when I want to hassle a bottom feeder I've caught taking huge bites from low rates. The reason I know the whole rate is because I'm also set up with several shippers in my area so I see the same list the brokers do. Try posting your truck sometime. You'll already have a leg up on the negotiations when they're calling you.

I hope everyone sees this, we don’t need anymore BCO’s or O/O’s at Landstar, it’s really bad over here, I would stay an independent o/o and chase that $! But it is nice, getting a check every week and those.50-$1.00 off cash price at truck stops, good insurance prices, free windshields, over half price on tires etc… , if you come to LS don’t pull a reefer, that’s what I pull, don’t want any competition. I’m sure you got hat truckers edge fuel card, getting that .25 cents off cash and doing that Love’s factoring or just giving a % of the load to get that quick pay, then arse drawing up every month hoping they don’t recourse some $ on you, you stay independent with that big fuel saver you drive buddy, we don’t need all this super truckers at LS.

Why do all Landstar guys brag so much about their supposed great fuel discounts they get by being at Landstar?? I’m not at Landstar and I have a fuel card that gets .50-1.00 off the regular price also. The TA’s around Chicago area right now are all almost .80 discounts….just never understood why they all feel so “special” by these fuel discounts that everyone can get as well

Not this Landstar guy. I tell everyone get NASTC card and you'll get the same discount I get.

I think the better discounts we get are on tires. And our insurance is cheap, but that's what we give up the 35% for.

It's a tough place. Extremely dog eat dog, and full of ### holes to be sure.

Guy that was here 23 years, million miler, rolled his truck, they gave him two options
    a) resign
    b) be terminated

Try it. It works for me. I like them calling me instead of the other way around. because 8 times out of 10 they are desperate and you can skim more money off them. Ive also noticed . sometimes they will call u about a load that isnt even posted on the board yet. Thats been my experience atleast. I dont claim to know what the hell im doing though :biggrin_25523: just trying to figure it out like everybody else

Right I can see the tire discounts being something that majority of us other guys can’t get. Just seems like I always see their fuel discount as some selling point when every owner operator out here has access to the same .50-1.00 discounts.

Well you don't have to f/u a whole lot to be shown the door. That's a good sell.
And right now there's a 3 week wait just to get a trailer by people just dying to someone's place.
That also is a good sell.

There's a lot of lying for whatever reason, ego maybe. Guys say what they make, and I know what I make and what it takes, and I think " you're lying." Or " That's not that great of numbers."

The attitude from corporate is very," The emperor is not naked, he has beautiful clothes."

So knowing all that, why do people stay?

Some make good money, and it's on your settlement card every week.

There's so much bs, that's why I'll just post pics of my settlement. But some people are so hardened against LS, they cry fake or it's photo shopped lol.

There's definitely agents that want, better yet, expect you to kiss their ###. Never been real good at that.

There's some with good paying freight, but it comes with A LOT of hassle.

There's some that can't even tie their own shoes.

And LS home-base doesn't want to hear about it.

Like I said, There's a line of approved guys with tractors 3 weeks deep ready to take the place of those that don't see the emperors beautiful robe.

Posting up is the best way to know for sure if you're in a hot or cold market. You're basically flying blind otherwise.

If they need you they will blow your phone up a dozen or more incoming calls in 10 minutes. Sometimes it can go like that for hours. And I always look the board over before I click "post truck" to cherry pick those specific loads I want. Wait for the people with those loads to call you then make them pay.

On loads you aren't interested in, when they call and say what it is just save your breath and hang up on them immediately. Nobody has time for that when the phone is busy and you're trying to nail down some good work. If you have a photographic memory and can recall which brokerages had what freight use that info together with your caller ID and don't even answer calls from brokerages with loads you don't want.

Then.... there's the flip side of the above where you hear nothing but crickets chirping and you call asking about their freight and will take whatever rate is offered if you want or need the load...

So know what you need and choose your lanes wisely....
